August 22, 2011 - (Becket, MA) American dance master Mark Morris returns to Jacob's Pillow to celebrate his company's 30th anniversary with four lush, witty works August 24-28. Mark Morris Dance Group (MMDG) showcases their hallmark dance Resurrection; the geometric and noble work V; the famous solo Ten Suggestions; and Dancing Honeymoon, set to a medley of tunes from the 1920s and 30s. Morris holds a deep-rooted commitment to performing with live music; the MMDG Music Ensemble (including four Fellows from the Tanglewood Music Center) will accompany this engagement. Called "the most important choreographer since Balanchine" by Boston Globe critic Richard Dyer, Morris is famous for pairing impeccable classic technique with modern ideas. The New York Times dance critic Alastair Macaulay opines, "There seems no end to the complexity, sophistication and intoxication of Mr. Morris's choreographic response."
