June 9, 2011 - (Becket, MA) Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival jumpstarts with popular contemporary ensemble KEIGWIN + COMPANY in a vibrant program of art, entertainment, and physicality in the Doris Duke Theatre, June 22 to 26. Founded in 2003 by Artistic Director Larry Keigwin, the company has become known for their provocative and witty commentary on society, relationships, and the booming entertainment industry. This season, KEIGWIN + COMPANY opens the Festival with a quartet of knockout dances including one of Keigwin's newest works, Megalopolis; a trio of duets set to songs by Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, and Roy Orbison in Love Songs; the contemporary baroque Bird Watching; and the fashion-inspired Runaway, with original music by Jonathan Melville Pratt.
