JACOB'S PILLOW PRESENTS
LIZ GERRING DANCE COMPANY

POETIC CHOREOGRAPHY, COMPLEX SOUND STRUCTURES &
RICH VIDEO SET DESIGN
IN THIS DYNAMIC PILLOW PREMIERE

August 15, 2012 - Innovative New York-based choreographer Liz Gerring will present her eponymous company in its Doris Duke Theatre debut, August 15-19 at Jacob's Pillow. Heralded by dance writer and performer Gus Solomons jr. as "one of those dance makers that connoisseurs appreciate and the general public should get to know better," Gerring's six technically powerful dancers showcase her richly textured choreography in she dreams in code. The evening length work was most recently described by The New Yorker as "a ravishing dance of shifting patterns. With touches of Trisha Brown and Merce Cunningham, Gerring has created a work that is both opulent and restrained, intimate and grand. Not to be missed."  Roslyn Sulcas of The New York Times comments "she dreams shows Ms. Gerring's poetic imagination and very concrete ability to create fascinating dance that can look simultaneously simple and complex, drawing on ordinary movement and showing us its complicated underpinnings as we watch."
