LES GRANDS BALLETS CANADIENS DE MONTRÉAL RETURNS TO JACOB'S PILLOW WITH MAURO BIGONZETTI'S FOUR SEASONS AND CANTATA
July 17, 2009 (Becket, Mass.) - Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal, Canada's major and most progressive ballet company, returns to the Pillow for a week-long engagement July 29 -- August 2. Known for presenting a diverse and adventurous mix of classical and contemporary repertoire, the company will perform two very different works, Four Seasons and Cantata, both by Italian choreographer Mauro Bigonzetti. Set to Antonio Vivaldi's familiar score, Four Seasons is a lush ballet in twelve movements that melds classical form with contemporary flair, while Cantata is a visceral work that features traditional Southern Italian music performed live by Gruppo Musicale Assurd, a quartet of female singers from Italy.
