Application Guidelines

All applicants must audition (see Audition Guidelines)

  • Create a complete, legible program application, carefully following instructions below
  • Assemble and mail as instructed on Application Checklist
  • Notification for all complete applications mailed by May 7

    1) Application Form
    2) Non-Refundable Processing Fee, one per applicant
              $25 if postmarked by February 22
              $40 if postmarked by March 31
              $45 if postmarked after April 1; reviewed as availability permits
    3) Written Statement (2 copies, typed, 1 page maximum, title page with your name)
              For Choreographers Lab describe: (a) current artistic work; (b) connections
              between artistic and teaching practices, referring to DVD or online video as
              applicable; (c) current documentation practices to date; and (d) Name, Title, Phone
              and Email for two dance artists who can speak about your work.
              For All Other Programs describe: (a) current course of study or work; (b) career
              aspirations; (c) experiences needed to reach these goals; and (d) Name, Title,
              Phone, and Email for two dance artists or teachers who can speak about your work.
    4) Resume/Vita (2 copies, typed)
    5) Photo (label each copy with your name)
              For Ballet: Full-length first arabesque (1 copy)
              For Tap and Contemporary: Full body preferred; headshot accepted (1 copy)
              For Jazz/Musical Theatre Dance: Headshot (2 copies)
    6) Support Documentation (originals are not required)
              • Professionals: Selected programs, reviews, and articles about your work, if any
              • If 17 and under: Recommendation letter from a current teacher, with your name on
              top of page, describing (a) technical and performance artistry; (b) stamina to
              participate in rigorous, professional level classes and rehearsals; and (c) ability to
              live and interact responsibly as an adult professional in a diverse artist community.
