Pedro Ruiz trained in his native Cuba and in Venezuela. While a principal
dancer with Ballet Hispanico, Ruiz choreographed three celebrated ballets, and subsequently has choreographed for other companies, including The Joffrey. He teaches master classes regularly at Alvin Ailey and worldwide, and is on the dance faculty of Marymount College and The Ailey School. He has received the prestigious Bessie and Joyce Foundation awards, among others. Ruiz has performed at The White House for several presidents, and in 2007, was profiled nationally on PBS's In The Life.
