Alexandra Koltun graduated from the Vaganova Ballet Academy in Russia and 
joined the Kirov Ballet where she appeared in many lead roles, including tours to Europe, Japan, Korea and the U.S. After defecting in 1991, she joined Boston Ballet as a soloist. Promoted to principal dancer in 1994, she danced leading roles in Swan Lake, Giselle, La Bayadère, Don Quixote, and Sleeping Beauty, starred in the world premieres of Christopher Wheeldon's Firebird and The Four Seasons, and collaborated with Mark Morris, Twyla Tharp, Daniel Pelzig, Eliot Feld, Margo Sappington, and Flemming Flindt. Koltun has staged ballets and taught for ballet companies throughout the U.S. and Europe. Other notable engagements include being partnered by international star Fernando Bujones, performing with The Suzanne Farrell Ballet, serving on the faculties of Miami City Ballet and The Joffrey Ballet School, and as Artistic Director of the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp. Koltun recently released Alexandra's Ballet Stretch on DVD.
