Chet Walker

Jazz/Musical Theatre Dance Program Director

Chet Walker, a performer on Broadway since the age of sixteen, has many 
Broadway credits to his name; most prominently he has appeared in the Bob Fosse musicals The Pajama Game, Pippin, Dancin', and Sweet Charity. As an international director and choreographer, he staged many productions, including The Producers in Argentina, Brazil and Israel, for which he won the Israel Theatre Award for Best Choreography and was nominated for an ACE Award for Best Choreography in Argentina. As the original conceiver of the Tony Award-winning musical Fosse, he received nominations for the Olivier Award and Drama Desk Award, and won the Outer Critics Circle Award. He served as a cultural envoy in Serbia and Italy for the U.S. State Department Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs. His company WALKERDANCE is one of few companies dedicated solely to musical theatre dance. Most recently he directed and choreographed Smokey Joe's Café, and in 2009 will premiere, along with Mercedes Ellington, The Duke and His Dames. Future productions will include MARATHON,Tango Lesson, Lorelei, and Wonderland. For Broadway, he will be directing and choreographing two new musicals: Diamonds and Irma. His premieres at Jacob's Pillow include Seven Deadly Sins (Anger), Confessions of Love, and Jazz on Jazz, and for the past two years, he has directed and coordinated A Jazz Happening, a benefit for The School at Jacob's Pillow. This is Mr. Walker's 10th year directing the Jazz/Musical Theatre Dance Program.
