More about The School
Acclaimed pioneers, innovators and international superstars of hip-hop teach
daily classes in boogaloo, b-boying/b-girling, popping, locking, rocking and social dances, such as African and house. Dancers learn movement styles and rhythms specific to particular eras and how they have influenced and advanced this important cultural form.
Daily sessions by artist faculty help dancers articulate a variety of styles, learn how they differ within the U.S. and around the world and understand the vital role of cultural history and continuity leading up to current forms of expression. Faculty coach dancers in performance skills required for free weekly presentations on the Inside/Out stage on July 4th and 11th.
Dancers also attend Festival performances, talks, exhibits and master classes free of charge as part of their dance immersion at the Pillow.
For 25 advanced dancers with strong performance skills, ages 16 and up.
