Nina Ananiashvili & the State Ballet of Georgia
June 23-June 27, 2010
Nina Ananiashvili, "classical ballet's undeniable superstar" (The New York Post), is quite simply one of the greatest dancers of our time. A star of the Bolshoi Ballet and American Ballet Theatre, she now directs her homeland's national company, the State Ballet of Georgia, which showcases outstanding classical technique in a diverse, dynamic program of works.
The company performs Falling Angels by the incomparable Czech choreographer Jirí Kylián, and Bizet Variations by American Ballet Theatre's Alexei Ratmansky, who was recently called "one of the best dancemakers in ballet today" by The New York Times. The program concludes with four pas de deux (dances for two) treasures by classical ballet's Sir Frederick Ashton including Voices of Spring and La Chatte.
