Intensely athletic dancing is heightened by surreal theatrical vignettes in Barak Marshall's refreshingly original MONGER. Marshall, the son of acclaimed dancer, choreographer, and musician Margalit Oved, is a former resident choreographer of Batsheva Dance Company and choreographs highly athletic, visual, and emotional movement. This arresting and entertaining work fuses contemporary dance with humorous character narratives inspired by Jean Genet's The Maids and Robert Altman's Academy Award and Golden Globe-winning film Gosford Park, and is set to an eclectic score with music by Balkan Beat Box, Handel, Verdi, and National Public Radio's The Yiddish Radio Project.

The stories and personalities of a community of servants trapped in the home of an overbearing mistress shine through funny, poignant movement scenes as this evening of unforgettable dance explores themes of power, hierarchy, and survival.

"This tongue-in-cheek wild dance is a beauty, bursting with energy and human passions."
