Based in Chicago, Luna Negra Dance Theater is a beautiful contemporary ensemble of talented performers known for its unique contemporary movement style infused with elements of Latino culture. In the company's Pillow debut, they present several exciting, thought-provoking, and entertaining dances.
Bate, by choreographer Fernando Melo, plays with male bravado and vulnerability, combining the melodrama of Brazilian soap operas and the machismo of Samba. In Naked Ape, Spanish choreographer Fernando Hernando Magadan investigates the need for physical connection in a technological age, combining fierce dancing, multimedia effects, and eclectic score with music by jazz trumpet player Erik Truffaz, Mexican electronica recording artist Murcof, instrumental duo Jónsi & Alex, and Johann Sebastian Bach. Additional works to be announced.
