United Roots

This diverse troupe of Boston-based hip-hop performing artists educates the public on the origins and true culture of this dance form. United Roots highlights various cultural dance forms that have shaped the style of hip-hop including Caribbean dance, African dance, Brazilian capoeira and samba, American "flapper" dance and more.

A Visit with Bill T. Jones

The recipient of prestigious awards too numerous to list, Bill T. Jones is one of the contemporary dance field's most important voices. In addition to directing Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, he is widely known as an author, opera director, Broadway choreographer, and provocateur.

The School at Jacob's Pillow: Cultural Traditions

Renowned flamenco dancer Soledad Barrio and artistic director Martín Santangelo, founders of Spain's acclaimed Noche Flamenca, guide dancers of The School in the dances, songs, and rhythms of this robust and complex art form, concluding their first week of study at the Pillow.

Black Spring

A powerful exploration of the recurring question of identity, this film by Benoît Dervaux intercuts dynamic dance sequences with scenes of everyday life in Nigeria. Heddy Maalem choreographed the award-winning Black Spring, and he will be on hand to discuss it after the screening.
