National Dance Institute

Founded by NYC Ballet legend Jacques d'Amboise, the National Dance Institute (NDI) inspires and motivates schoolchildren with the dances of Africa, Bali, Mexico, the Caribbean and more. After enjoying d'Amboise's PillowTalk, take in the students of NDI as the perform on Inside/Out.

Inspiring children through the arts, the National Dance Institute (NDI) was founded more than 30 years ago by New York City Ballet star Jacques d'Amboise. In his long overdue Pillow debut, d'Amboise reflects on his career and talks about his influential arts education efforts with NDI.

The artists of David Michalek's Slow Dancing perform diverse solo works in this Doris Duke Studio Theatre Preview. Jill Johnson of The Forsythe Company (William Forsythe, artistic director), and classical Indian dancer Shantala Shivalingappa are among the esteemed performers.

The School at Jacob's Pillow: Jazz/Musical Theatre Dance

Under the direction of Broadway legend Chet Walker, who co-conceived Fosse, dancers conclude their first week of professional study and embody the precision and pizzazz jazz and musical theatre dance in a showing of repertory by Walker and guest Broadway artist faculty.
