Sherman's Century
One
of the Denishawn Company's youngest dancers from 1925-28, Jane Sherman
has written extensively about Ted Shawn and she is now among the
group's last survivors. This presentation celebrates her 100th birthday
with tributes and a few choice words from the feisty centenarian
herself.

artistic director Lorraine Chapman's choreography has been lauded
by the Boston Herald as “vivid, well-crafted and idiosyncratic.”

Rindfleisch
Dance
According
to The New Yorker, German-born Elke Rindfleisch creates
"dances [that] move along…like a train of unforced thought."
Her contemporary company performs 80% of Love, set to
a score of rock music and operatic voices. Drawing inspiration from
the novel Sputnik Sweetheart, the work dives into the worlds
of men and women and their quest for love.

School at Jacob's Pillow: Jazz/Musical Theatre Dance
The
polish and flair of Broadway arrives at Inside/Out in this showing
of repertory by Jazz/Musical Theatre Dance program director Chet
Walker and other guest artist faculty. Dancers conclude their second
week of professional study under Walker, who co-conceived the Broadway
hit, Fosse, with this performance.

onstage, while other performing arts traditions are endangered,
such as those in Nepal . Shivalingappa is joined here by Core of
Culture's Joseph Houseal to discuss both the dance world's success
stories and current threats.
