In 1962, Ted Shawn dedicated this dance studio to his wife Ruth St. Denis,
one of America's first famous dancers and the co-founder of their company Denishawn, which operated from 1915-1931. Historic photographs showing her in memorable roles line the studio's entrance.
Today this studio is used for classes for dancers of The School at Jacob's Pillow and for Community Dance Classes such as the Morning Classes, which are offered to the Berkshire community for all experience levels Mondays through Fridays. Different movement styles are offered during the week such as Pilates, ballet, modern and yoga.
