Choreographer David Parker returns to Jacob’s Pillow with The Bang Group, an adventurous exploration of the sonic potential of the dancing body in a varied, interlocking suite of percussive dances. The new work, A Mouthful of Shoes, works with a wide-ranging movement vocabulary drawing from classical and contemporary forms as well as tap dance, taking sets of contemporary and traditional musical scores and re-creating them as choreographic systems embodied by dancers. Thus, they can be played entirely by feet and bodies. Musician Pauline Kim Harris will play violin for an original composition by Dean Rosenthal. The group will also perform a version of Stravinsky’s famous experimental jazz composition, Piano Rag Music.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN IT RAINS?

In the event of rain, most Festival events continue as scheduled. The 6:15pm Inside/Out performance may be canceled or moved indoors to a studio, and seat passes are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. When possible, a live video simulcast with limited seating is offered in a nearby studio. Passes are distributed beginning at 5:20pm. We encourage patrons not to arrive before 5:20 if it is raining unless they are prepared to wait in the rain for pass distribution.
