Join us in the Dance Zone at the north end of Pittsfield’s Third Thursday cultural street festival for this family-friendly pop-up performance. Tapped In brings together standout alums from The School at Jacob’s Pillow to downtown Pittsfield for one night only. Tap dancers Christina Carminucci, Jackson Clayton, Jabu Graybeal, and Demi Remick will be performing tap solos.

Third Thursday runs May-September from 5-8pm in Downtown Pittsfield. North Street is closed to vehicular traffic from West Street to Linden Street and filled with music, street performers, local food, community activities, craft vendors, and plenty more. Organized by the City of Pittsfield Office of Cultural Development. Visit their website or call 413.499.9348 for more information.

Christina Carminucci, born and raised in New Jersey, is a New York City-based tap dancer. She began her training with the American Tap Dance Foundation's Tap City Youth Ensemble and has studied extensively under the mentorship of Derick K. Grant. Christina is a Cum Laude graduate from Pace University (2016) with a BBA in Arts and Entertainment Management and can be seen performing, choreographing, and teaching throughout NYC. This proud Jacob’s Pillow Tap Program alumna has appeared in works by many of today’s greats, including Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards, Brenda Bufalino, and Jason Samuels Smith, to name a few. Additionally, she has danced with a number of notable companies including Michelle Dorrance’s Dorrance Dance and Sarah Reich's Tap Music Project. Over the past few years, Christina has performed both locally in the NYC area, as well as internationally overseas on the #1 rated cruise ship in the world. As an emerging, young choreographer, Christina co-produced On That Note, and, most recently, produced her first original one-woman show When the Smoke Clears at the Triad Theater in NYC. Passionate about sharing her love and knowledge of the art form, she currently teaches at the American Tap Dance Foundation, where she is in her third season as an Artist in Residence and is on faculty at Steps on Broadway. Christina is focused on developing her own works that represent tap dance with the highest respect.

Jackson Clayton began his formal dance training at Thelma Goldberg’s Dance Inn at age 9. In 2011 Clayton enrolled in his first tap class and two years later he joined Boston Tap Company, under the leadership of Sean C. Fielder. In addition to tap, Clayton studied jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, ballet, and modern dance. In 2016 he joined Subject:Matter and has performed with them at venues such as Joe’s Pub, Musikfest, Jacobs Pillow's Inside/Out Performance Series, and House of Blues. In addition to performing with Subject:Matter, Jackson is also an alum of the 2017 Tap Program of The School at Jacob's Pillow, a member of Caleb Teicher & Company, and a student at Tufts University.

Jabu Graybeal is an alumnus of the North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble (NCYTE) and YoungArts Foundation, and has performed with a diverse group of companies including Caleb Teicher & Company and Chloe Arnold’s Apartment 33. Under a nomination from Michelle Dorrance, he was hailed by DanceSpirit Magazine as a dancer to look for in the next generation of tap.

Demi Remick is a YoungArts Gold Award winner in Dance, one of Dance Magazine’s 2014 Top-25-To-Watch, a Presidential Scholar in the Arts nominee, a Groove master teacher & adjudicator, SUNY Purchase’s Junior Dance Award Recipient, and a Capezio Athlete. Demi currently tours worldwide as the tap dance soloist for Postmodern Jukebox and is a member of Caleb Teicher & Company. Demi was a member of the ‘Bessie’ award-winning company Dorrance Dance, ‘Emmy award-winning’ Jason Samuels Smith’s company A.C.G.I., and Lisa La Touche’s TapPhonics. She has also worked with Emma Portner & The Flock, Bill T. Jones at the Kennedy Center, and Monica Bill Barnes & Company. She is an alumnus of the Tap Program at The School at Jacob’s Pillow, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, and the Juilliard Summer Dance Program. Remick is a certified Yoga instructor and teaches/performs dance internationally. She received her BFA in Dance from SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance where she performed works by Azure Barton, José Limón, Alexandra Beller, Trisha Brown, Xan Burley, and Doug Varone.
