Alphonse Poulin has danced professionally with Boston Ballet, Theatro Municipal de São Paulo, Companhia Nacional de Bailado in Lisbon, Nationaltheater München, and Theater des Westens in Berlin. He was engaged as ballet master at Grand Théatre Genéve in 1981, where he also directed the dance department at the Conservatoire de Musique until 1994. Poulin choreographed 33 opera productions in 16 opera houses throughout Europe and the U.S. He has worked as guest ballet master for Batsheva Dance Company, Ballet Cullberg, Bale da Cidade de São Paulo, Bale of the Theatro Municipal do Rio do Janeiro, Boston Ballet, Gulbenkian Ballet, Nederlands Dans Theater, and National Ballet of Madrid. Poulin recently retired as a ballet faculty member of The Juilliard School and continues to teach as a guest ballet master throughout Europe, North America, and South America. Poulin has previously been a Guest Faculty member for The School at Jacob’s Pillow.
