Assistant to the Program Director Milton Myers

Aya Kaneko was born in Osaka, Japan, and earned a vocational examination syllabus certificate at The Royal Academy of Dance in London. She went on to work with several ballet companies, projects, and schools as both a dancer and teacher in Osaka and Kobe. She participated in The School at Jacob’s Pillow Contemporary Program in 2008 and 2009, where she received a full scholarship and the Jacob’s Pillow Professional Advancement in Dance Award. She also has had the opportunity to perform for choreographers such as Aszure Barton, Dwight Rhoden, Edgar Zendejas, Helen Pickett, Milton Myers, and Tero Saarinen. Kaneko studied Horton technique under Milton Myers and is currently his assistant/demonstrator at The Ailey School, The Juilliard School, The School at Jacob’s Pillow, ImPulsTanz Dance Festival, Steps on Broadway, and Peridance. She also assists for company classes such as Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and PHILADANCO!.
