Preeti Vasudevan is an award-winning Indian choreographer, educator, movement analyst, and exponent of the classical Indian dance, Bharatanatyam. She creates provocative contemporary works from the Indian tradition, earning her international acclaim with her New York based company, Thresh. Vasudevan was a 2016 Resident Fellow for the NYU Center for Ballet and the Arts, Artist in Residence at New York Live Arts from 2015-17, Dance Performance Atelier Award in 2015. Her commissioned works include, Veiled Moon, by The Metropolitan Museum of Art; Boxed, for Jacques D’Amboise National Dance Institute; Drumming a Dream, by The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center; and Yo Yo Ma’s Silk Road Connect. Vasudevan’s ground-breaking educational website, Dancing for the Gods has been developed to build a cultural bridge through creative Indian dance and is used in NYC Public Schools. She holds a Master’s in Dance Studies from Laban Centre London and is a Certified Movement Analyst from the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies in New York.
