Sharon Story is in her 21st season with Atlanta Ballet where she is Dean of Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education and serves as Ballet Mistress for the company. Her professional dance career, spanning more than 30 years, included tenures with Joffrey Ballet, New York City Ballet, The School of American Ballet and Boston Ballet, which featured international tours with Rudolf Nureyev. Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education rapidly grew to one of the largest dance schools in the nation, with Story as Dean. The Centre also achieved accreditation with the National Association of Schools of Dance (NASD) during this time. Story is a member of the Board of Directors for NASD and serves on many other community and national boards. In 2015, she received the “Women Making A Mark” award from Atlanta Magazine. Story is committed to providing a noncompetitive atmosphere and access to dance education that is shaped by community needs; with innovative and inspiring commitment to excellence. She is proud of the dancers who have studied at the Centre for Dance Education and continue their careers onstage for Atlanta Ballet and companies around the globe.
