During the Fall/Winter/Spring internship, the Archives/Preservation Intern has the unique opportunity to cultivate archival skills while working closely with the Director of Preservation and Associate Archivist & Librarian.

In the off season, the Archives are open to the public by appointment only, so patron engagement is limited and overall pacing and workload varies from the festival intern program.

Potential projects and responsibilities for an Archives/Preservation Internship for the 2015-16 year include:

  • assisting the Associate Archivist & Librarian with data migration, clean-up, and cataloging in our new database created with Collective Access software
  • processing, preserving, and arranging historical materials (e.g. photographs, correspondence, financial records, books)
  • answering research enquiries

Candidates should be detail-oriented, self-motivated, knowledgeable in dance, and comfortable working with computers. Experience in cataloging/data entry or a background in libraries or archives is a plus. Work schedule and internship duration are flexible, and MLIS students are encouraged to apply. All candidates should include specific interests or projects they are interested in pursuing in their cover letter.
