Directed by ballet luminary Anna-Marie Holmes, dancers are prepared for the artistic range and technical rigor required to gain work with leading classical ballet companies. An exciting feature of the first week will be learning and refining the performance quality of a new work, created on the ensemble, by the choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa. Dancers present the work’s world premiere at the Season Opening Gala, June 16.
During the second week, dancers are coached in key classical solo, pas de deux, and ensemble works by renowned artistic directors and principal dancers. These repertoire classics, and the new Lopez Ochoa work, will be performed June 23 for Festival audiences on the iconic outdoor Inside/Out stage.
Integral to this immersive dance experience are interactions with Festival artists through Master Classes and career-building discussions. Dancers live onsite and attend Festival performances held on three stages, public talks led by artists and scholars, view exhibits, and research dance interests and assignments in the Jacob’s Pillow Archives.
