Anna-Marie Holmes, Program Director | June 11-24

Directed by ballet luminary Anna-Marie Holmes, dancers are prepared for the artistic range and technical rigor required to gain work with leading classical ballet companies. An exciting, first challenge will be learning and refining the performance quality of a new work, created on them, by the highly sought-after choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa. In five days, Lopez Ochoa and dancers present the work’s world premiere at the Season Opening Gala, June 16.

Dancers are also coached in classical solo, pas de deux, and ensemble works by renowned artistic directors and principal dancers. These repertoire classics, and the Lopez Ochoa work, are performed June 23 for Festival audiences on the iconic outdoor stage. Dancers live onsite and attend Festival performances held on three stages, public talks by artists and scholars, view exhibits, and research dance interests and assignments in the Jacob’s Pillow Archive throughout this dance-immersive experience.

Calvin Royal III, 2010 Ballet Program participant, Lorna Strassler Award recipient, and current dancer of American Ballet Theatre speaks about his unforgettable and career-changing experience at The School:

For 22 ballet dancers at a professional or advanced pre-professional level with strong performance skills, age 16 and up. Video audition required; priority consideration if received by February 10.
