Anna-Marie Holmes, Program Director | June 12-25
Anna-Marie Holmes and a distinguished international faculty prepare dancers for the artistic range and technical rigor required by today’s world-class ballet companies.
Acclaimed choreographer Bruce Wells creates a new work on the dancers, who perform its world premiere at the Jacob’s Pillow Season Opening Gala on June 17. Dancers also receive in-depth coaching in renowned classical solo, pas de deux, and ensemble works, which they perform for the public June 24.
Separate men’s and women’s classes are part of the curriculum, as are seminars in career development, musicality, style characteristics, and ballet history. Attending Festival performances by Miami City Ballet and other companies as well as 85th Anniversary Season events, public talks, exhibits, master classes, studying in the Archives are integral to this immersive experience in dance. Alumni of The School at Jacob’s Pillow are principals, soloists, and members of American Ballet Theatre, Het Nationale Ballet, National Ballet of Canada, Royal Danish Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, and more.
For 22 ballet dancers at a professional or advanced pre-professional level with strong performance skills, age 16 and up. Video audition required; priority consideration
