The Photography Intern will work closely with the Creative Director and Festival Photographer to build a strong digital catalog of all Festival photography and to support the collection needs of the department.
Additional assignments will include photographing Festival performances, classes, and events to produce images for the promotion of Jacob’s Pillow and inclusion in our digital Archives.
The Photography Internship offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, professional environment and learn about the marketing use and archival importance of photographs. Responsibilities include editing and cataloging all photographs into a digital photo archive, providing editing and photo assistant support to our Festival Photographer, and curating visuals for the Pillow’s social media platforms. The Photography Intern spends a number of hours each week photographing visiting companies in rehearsal, dance classes in The School at Jacob’s Pillow, donor events, scholar and artist-led talks, and performances on our outdoor stage; in this capacity, they interface with all departments, our many Festival artists, members, and the general public. As a member of the Marketing team, the Photography Intern helps to develop strategy and execute target-marketing promotions, and assists with research and community outreach.
Candidates must possess a strong background in digital photography and expert-level Lightroom skills; and should be comfortable shooting live action in low, in/outdoor, and varying light situations. Additionally, candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills, be detail-oriented, organized, and effective time managers with a working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.
Applications must include a digital portfolio of photographic work. At least one recommendation and one reference must be from a photography-focused professor/instructor/professional.
