The Colombian-Belgian Annabelle Lopez Ochoa (she/her) is a prolific, sought-after, and award-winning choreographer who has created more than 100 ballets for 86 dance companies around the world such as the Dutch National Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, English National Ballet, Gothenborg Ballet, Hong Kong Ballet, Queensland Ballet, Paris Opera Junior Company, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Miami City Ballet, and New York City Ballet.
She has been recognized with multiple choreographic prizes from organizations such as the Choreographic Competition Hannover and the Bornem Choreographers’ Competition, as well as being the recipient of awards including the UK Dance Award for Best Classical Ballet, Villanueva Award, South Bank Sky Arts Award, and the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Award. In 2025, she received the Dance Lab NY honors.
She is "one of the world’s busiest choreographers" (Dance Magazine) and one of the few female choreographers who excels in narrative ballet. She has created 15 narrative ballets to date, including FRIDA, Coco Chanel: The Life of a Fashion Icon, Doña Peron, Callas: La Divina, and A Streetcar Named Desire. Since August 2025, she has been a Resident Choreographer of the Dortmund Ballet.
