Campus Accessibility

Jacob’s Pillow is dedicated to fostering a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for all visitors

VISITING THE CAMPUS GROUNDS

Jacob’s Pillow is located in the hilly, rocky terrain of Becket, MA. We have made improvements to our campus, but physical access varies across our facilities. Efforts to increase access are ongoing. We are committed to growing our organization in ways that make it possible for all to feel welcomed.

Getting Here & Parking

Directions, parking options, and on-campus transportation services

Jacob’s Pillow is located 0.6 miles down George Carter Road off of Route 20/Jacob’s Ladder Road, with the main entrance on the right. The primary parking lot is firm-packed gravel with accessible paved spaces available near the Box Office. Upon arrival, patrons may request golf cart transportation between the parking lots and all buildings and theaters, with designated pick-up and drop-off ramps provided throughout campus. Canes and wheelchairs are also available upon request.

Campus Terrain & Pathways

Surface types and main campus routes

The campus includes a mix of stone-chip gravel paths, blacktop, wood-chip paths, and grassy areas. Not all transitions between surfaces are perfectly smooth, and some building entrances include lips of less than one inch. The main path through campus is a stone-chip gravel-covered firm blacktop walkway that runs from the main parking lot to the entrance of the Henry J. Leir Stage at George Carter Road.

Venues

Several of the primary venues are wheelchair accessible from the main parking lot. The Box Office, connected to Blake’s Barn (Archives), is located approximately 130 feet from the lot along a path with a two-degree slope. The Ted Shawn Theatre is about 275 feet from the lot along a highly textured firm blacktop covered with stone-chip gravel, with a slope of 1.5 degrees; a golf cart ride can bring patrons to within 30 feet of the theater entrance.

The Henry J. Leir Stage is approximately 555 feet from the main lot, with an entrance path of loose gravel that transitions to wood chips with a four-degree slope and a central aisle with a seven-degree slope. Golf cart transportation is available to this venue, and a dedicated drop-off zone for guests with limited mobility is located on George Carter Road.

This zone connects to a paved pathway leading to wheelchair accessible seating; however, there is no parking permitted at the drop-off point, and vehicles must return to the main lot. The Pillow Pub is also wheelchair accessible from the main parking area.
