M.A.D.D. Rhythms
2026 Season Opening Gala Artist
M.A.D.D. Rhythms is a Chicago-born, Black-led tap dance collective committed to preserving tap’s legacy, advancing Black rhythmic traditions, and building community through dance. Founded in 2001, the company has spent 25 years creating a powerful Novice‑to‑Professional Pipeline that trains, mentors, and uplifts youth from Chicago’s South and West Sides.
Rooted in Bronzeville and North Lawndale, M.A.D.D. Rhythms blends performance, education, and cultural stewardship to ensure tap remains accessible, relevant, and connected to its Black American origins. The company’s dancers—youth, emerging artists, and professionals—learn in an intergenerational environment where discipline, creativity, and community care shape both artistry and character.
Through performances, residencies, school partnerships, and free or low‑cost programming, M.A.D.D. Rhythms continues to expand opportunities for young people while celebrating the history and future of tap. Now in its 25th Anniversary year, the company stands as a cultural anchor and a national leader in tap education, community engagement, and artistic excellence.
