Ballet Hispánico New York
A crowd favorite ever since their first Jacob’s Pillow performance in 1984, Ballet Hispánico New York returns with a mixed program sure to delight dance fans seeking “spirited fun” (Boston Globe) and “smashingly theatrical” performances (Chicago Sun Times).
About Ballet Hispánico New York
Since its founding in the post-civil rights movement on New York’s Upper West Side, Ballet Hispánico has been celebrated for its bold repertory and exceptional training programs for over 50 years, becoming the nation’s leading Hispanic/Latine dance company and the largest cultural institution of its kind in the United States.
Under the dynamic guidance of Artistic Director and CEO Eduardo Vilaro, the company has broadened its artistic scope, deepened its repertory, and elevated its distinctive movement language. The company has commissioned over 100 original works, performed on prestigious international stages, and inspired generations through performances, education, and community engagement.
The company has garnered widespread acclaim, with The New York Times noting: “Many companies pay lip service to nurturing talent, but Ballet Hispánico has devoted significant resources and care to cultivating emerging artists.” Today, Ballet Hispánico New York stands not only as a cultural institution, but as a movement, pushing the boundaries of performance while honoring the traditions that shaped its legacy.
“There are few dance companies as versatile as Ballet Hispánico.”
