PillowTalk: Shamel Pitts
Recipient of the 2026 Jacob’s Pillow Men Dancers Award, choreographer Shamel Pitts will share his inspirations informing Touch of RED, which plays in the Doris Duke Theatre this week, and his expansive vision for his company TRIBE. Unlike traditional single choreographer companies, TRIBE is a collective of international and national artists working across mediums such as movement, video mapping projection, spoken word, and more, drawing inspiration from the Afrofuturism movement.
