Dinna Bjørn danced with The Royal Danish Ballet from 1964-1987. She had her soloist debut as the young girl in Jerome Robbins´ Afternoon of a Faun and the pig-tailed girl in David Lichine´s Graduation Ball. Other principal roles in her repertoire with The Royal Danish Ballet included La Sylphide in August Bournonville´s La Sylphide; Eleonore and Johanna in Bournonville´s The Kermes in Bruges; Clara in Flemming Flindt´s The Nutcracker; the First Pas de deux in Rudi van Dantzig´s Vier Letzte Lieder; the Ballerina in Mikael Fokine´s Petrusjka; the dreaming girl in Mikael Fokine´s La Spectre de la Rose; the maid in Henryk Tomacewskij´s Bagage and many solo roles in the Bournonville repertoire. In 1978, she had a guest role as Cinderella in Norfolk, Virginia and in 1988 as Giselle in the Odense Festival. 

In 1968, she won a bronze medal and a special prize for artistic interpretation at The International Ballet Competition in Varna, Bulgaria. Bjørn is known worldwide as a distinguished Bournonville expert and since 1975 has taught Bournoville classes and directed workshops and lectures around the world. From 1997-2000 she was Bournonville Consultant for The Royal Danish Ballet. She has staged La Sylphide and the Third Act of Napoli in more than twenty countries, and in 1992, she re-choreographed the Second Act of Napoli for The Royal Danish Ballet. From 1990-2002, she was Artistic Director of The Norwegian National Ballet and choreographed a new production of The Nutcracker for the company in 1994 that is still performed each year. From 2001-2008 she was Artistic Director of The Finnish National Ballet in Helsinki. 

Onne has been a member of several International Ballet Competition juries, including Varna (1998, 2000, and 2002), Jackson (1998), Paris (2000), Shanghai (2004), and Helsinki (2005). As choreographer Bjørn has created several works for The Royal Danish Ballet and for The Norwegian National Ballet. For The Pantomime Theatre in Tivoli, Copenhagen she has created five Hans Christian Andersen ballets, with her Majesty Queen Margrethe the 2nd of Denmark as designer of the décor and costumes: Love in a Dustbin (2001), Thumbelina (2005), Le Briquet (2007), Le Porcher (2009) and The Steadfast Tinsoldier (2013). Bjørn is currently head of the faculty of Bournonville á Biarritz Summer Academie. She is recipient of the Danish order of Dannebrog, the Finnish order of The White Rose, and the Norwegian order of Merit by King Harald.
