Under the direction of Anna-Marie Holmes, internationally distinguished
artist faculty prepare dancers for the breadth and rigor of company work. Choreographer and artistic director Karole Armitage launches the program by creating a new work on the dancers, who perform its world premiere at the Festival's Season Opening Gala on June 19.
During the second week, dancers learn repertoire and receive in-depth coaching in renowned classical solo, pas de deux, and ensemble works. Dancers perform for the public on June 26 on the free Inside/Out series. Faculty also coach dancers in the musicality, style characteristics, and history of the repertoire learned, and teach separate men's and women's classes. Dancers also receive seminars in career-building, performance analysis, and music; and study in the Archives.
Attending Festival performances, talks, exhibits, and master classes are part of this immersion experience in dance. Click here for faculty bios.
For 22 advanced pre-professional and professional ballet dancers, age 15 and up.
Past participants have hailed from companies and schools such as Atlanta Ballet, Boston Ballet, Estudio Julio Bocca Argentina, Het Nationale Ballet, National Ballet of Canada, Royal Danish Ballet, and San Francisco Ballet.
