The Experience
Chet Walker and other award-winning Broadway choreographers, directors,
composers/arrangers, and musicians collaborate to create original numbers on dancers with the fast-paced, exuberant rigor required to mount Broadway productions.
Dancers present excerpts of these works for the public August 4, 11, and 18 as part of the free outdoor performance series. Working as members of an ensemble, dancers perform the complete works, alongside Broadway guest artists and a live band, on August 19 in a benefit event for The School in the historic Ted Shawn Theatre.
Classes in ballet, jazz, musical theatre dance, and tap are followed by afternoon and evening rehearsals. Dancers receive weekly group and private vocal training as well as seminars in audition and career-building. Attending Festival performances, talks, exhibits, master classes, and studying in the Archives are integral to this immersion experience in dance.
For 12 men and 12 women, pre-professional and professional dancers with singing and acting experience, age 16 and up. Click here for faculty bios. For audition and application details, click here.
