Khary Kamau is a masterful percussionist and dedicated practitioner of Afro-Diasporic musical traditions. Rooted in the rhythms of West Africa and the Caribbean, his artistry reflects deep study and vibrant cultural fluency. He has trained under esteemed Djembefolas including Baba Joseph Barnes and the late Adewole Love, and furthered his studies with legendary figures such as Famoudou Konaté and Bolokada Condé.
Khary is a proud member of the legendary Bambara Dance and Drum Ensemble and performs with Akoko Nante Ensemble, a Pan-African neo-folk collective blending ancestral sounds with contemporary expression. His performances have been featured at Brooklyn Academy of Music’s DanceAfrica, the International African Arts Festival, and leading world music venues throughout New York City.
