Season Opening Gala

The attendees witnessed an incredible one-night-only performance in the Ted Shawn Theatre with a showstopping program, including the presentation of the 2025 Jacob’s Pillow Dance Award to Director of Preservation Norton Owen, a world premiere by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Taylor Stanley performing Mourner’s Bench by Talley Beatty, and more!
Our annual Season Opening Gala helps ensure that Jacob’s Pillow can continue to provide a place for local and global communities to gather in celebration of dance and invigorate the cultural landscape of the Berkshires and beyond.

5:00pm: Warm welcome and reception, featuring the 2025 exhibition opening in Blake’s Barn, the home of the Archives
6:00pm: One-night-only performance in the Ted Shawn Theatre, including…
- Presentation of the 2025 Jacob’s Pillow Dance Award to Director of Preservation Norton Owen
- Remarks by Honorary Co-Chair Senator Elizabeth Warren, as well as Jacob’s Pillow Trustees Kyle Abraham, Michelle Dorrance, and Wendy Whelan
- New York City Ballet principal dancer Taylor Stanley performing Mourner’s Bench by Talley Beatty
- World premiere by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa performed by The School at Jacob’s Pillow Contemporary Ballet Performance Ensemble
- The U.S. Premiere of Flyland by David Middendorp performed by dancers from BODYTRAFFIC
- Christopher Wheeldon’s After the Rain performed by dancers of New York City Ballet
- An excerpt of Camille A. Brown’s electrifying work I AM
