Sunday Workshops

Intimate classes with Festival Artists offer a unique experience for movers to learn repertory and technique from leading dance artists today. Explore a range of genres and class types from tap dance and Horton-based modern to classical ballet. Classes take place onsite on Sundays, July 4 – August 29, 10-11am.

In-Person Event: Sunday Workshop: Dorrance Dance

July 4

Learn new material, and challenge your technique practices and artistry, with Dorrance Dance company dancer Claudia Rahardjanoto. Participants will experience a brief warm-up, followed by a session where they will learn different snippets of choreography.

Dancing Familias is CONTRA-TIEMPO's community, radical joy practice. The class will be a flavorful get down for the whole family - all ages and abilities welcome!  Feel good, dance, and work your joy muscle with founding artistic director, movement artivist and mama, Ana Maria Alvarez. Be ready to move, laugh, sweat, and groove!

In-Person Event: Sunday Workshop: Ballet Hispánico

July 18

The initial influences of Afro-Cuban dance can be traced back to the Yoruba people of Western Africa. The ancestral dance traditions evolved into different Cuban rhymes such as Mambo, Cha-cha-cha, and Rumba just to name a few. Join Ballet Hispánico’s Lyvan Verdecia on a celebration of the rich diversity of Afro-Cuban dance forms while moving to the beats of the drums.
