Acacia Schachte, born in the U.S., started exploring dance at an early age, and developed this passion training at Arts Umbrella in Vancouver, Canada. In 1999 she joined Ballet BC, where she danced seven wonderful seasons. In 2006 she moved to New York to join Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, where she performed and created works with choreographers like Crystal Pite, Ohad Naharin, Hofesh Shechter, Jacopo Godani, and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui for eight seasons. In 2015, Schachte went to Europe as the assistant choreographer for Cherkaoui’s The Firebird for The Stuttgart Ballet. She danced for Munich Opera Festival and Eastman. In 2016 she joined the Royal Ballet of Flanders, where she dances and assists in rehearsals. She recently created two works for The Ballet’s choreolab which has sparked her passion for choreography. Schachte has a beautiful history performing at Jacob’s Pillow and is thrilled to return this year to teach.
