DEL Dance for Social Change | Guest Artist

Megan J. Minturn is a dancer, choreographer, and educator. She studied dance in Omaha, Brazil, New York, Senegal, and Cuba. Minturn’s company MJM Dance performed at the 92nd Street Y, Dance New Amsterdam, Dixon Place, the Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance, the Ailey Citigroup Theatre, Miami University of Ohio, Grounds for Sculpture, and at the Mark Morris Dance Center. In 2013 MJM Dance produced the Sunset Park Day of Dance, generously funded by the Brooklyn Arts Council. Minturn dances with Bessie Award winner Joya Powell’s Movement of the People Dance Company and Catherine Gallant Dance, performing in locations including the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Jacob’s Pillow, and the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM). In 2019 she studied dance in Brazil through the Don Quixote Fellowship and in Cuba as a Fund for Teachers Fellow. She was awarded the New York State Dance Education Association’s Outstanding K-12 Educator of the Year Award in 2016, and the Education Update’s Outstanding Educator of the Year at New York’s Harvard Club in 2015. Minturn teaches dance at the Brooklyn International High School and holds an M.A. in Dance Education from New York University, a B.A. in Philosophy from Fordham University, and is a Registered Yoga Teacher.
