Person sitting on couch watch a Jacob's Pillow dance performance on their TV.

We are thrilled to be sharing dance from Jacob’s Pillow online this summer for audiences around the world to have the chance to experience the magic of the Pillow virtually. We wanted to share this guide on how to get the most out of our online streaming experience as we all Return to Dance!

1. Host a watch party

The past year taught us many things, but one thing we’ll never forget is how important it is to find opportunities to come together and share in fun experiences as a group. Our suggestion: grab your friends and family for a Pillow watch party!

Whether you’re watching together in-person or collectively online, there’s nothing better than sharing the power of dance with others. Who knows—maybe you’ll even discover some new Jacob’s Pillow fans in your social circles.

Want to make it an experience that will last long after the show is over? Treat friends and family to some Pillow swag from our online store.

2. Experience a virtually immersive show

Witness a Pillow first this summer as Zoe | Juniper presents The Other Shore. This performance radically reframes and repositions the relationship between performer and viewer using Virtual Reality. Audiences will receive a special box, mailed to them in advance of the show, which includes VR goggles and other art objects designed to offer reflection and enhance the viewing experience. It all leads up to a live co-presence event on August 17, but The Other Shore can be viewed on-demand any time following the live premiere.

Go behind the creation of this performance by watching Zoe Scofield’s Inside the Pillow Lab episode.

3. Cast virtual performances to your streaming devices

Sometimes, watching on a small screen just doesn’t cut it. Fortunately, you can watch our virtual premieres on your home television by casting video from your phone or computer to your streaming device. Need help setting this up? Check out the following websites from a few popular streaming devices for additional help:

4. Explore more digital content

After the online performance, make sure to stick around for post-show conversations with the artists, moderated by Jacob’s Pillow Scholars-in-Residence. You can find these videos after the premiere in the Content Gallery of the stream. Visit our YouTube channel for PillowTalks, a curated series of entertaining and informative discussions with choreographers, writers, filmmakers, and cultural experts. And we hope you will stay moving with us this summer by joining one of our FREE dance classes every Friday, designed for the entire family to enjoy.

5. Share your viewing experience with us on social media

We want to hear from you, and connect you with those sharing the same dance experiences. Engage with us on our social media and tell us where around the world you are watching from.
