"one of the most imaginative tap choreographers working today" - The New Yorker
Tap dancer Michelle Dorrance is pure dynamite. As founder and artistic director of Dorrance Dance, she is one of the most sought after tap dancers and choreographers of her generation. She has toured with the hit show STOMP, performed in major venues around the world, and is the recipient of the prestigious 2013 Jacob's Pillow Dance Award.
Her company's new show, The Blues Project, premieres at the Pillow, featuring intricate rhythms, contagious energy, and some of today's top tap artists including Derick K. Grant and Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards. They perform with a live band led by acclaimed musician, performer, and composer Toshi Reagon. Reagon is a 2012-2013 Fellow of the Brooklyn Philharmonic, has created music for dance companies including Jane Comfort Dance Co., Urban Bush Women, and LAVA, and tours nationally as solo artist and with her band BIGLovely.
