"Graham was a prime revolutionary in the arts of this century and the American dancer and choreographer whose name became synonymous with modern dance."

In honor of the 100th anniversary of the original iconoclastic dance The Rite of Spring, created by composer Igor Stravinsky and choreographer Vaslav Nijinsky, America's most celebrated modern dance company re-stages Martha Graham's acclaimed interpretation. Graham's 1984 Rite of Spring is full of her signature intensity, bold styling, and beautifully stark choreography; Anna Kisselgoff of The New York Times writes "...in her evocation of seemingly remote climes and cultures, she can make us recognize universal emotions." The program also includes new contemporary dances: Lamentation Variations, a collection of contemporary dances inspired by Graham's famous solo, and a new work by noted Spanish choreographer Nacho Duato.
