Sara Mearns: Beyond Ballet
NYCB principal Sara Mearns’ Bessie Award expanded what it means to be a versatile dancer today. This Pillow-exclusive engagement pairs Mearns in multigenre collaborations including No. 1 with the French hip-hop Wang Ramirez, the world premiere of a duet with postmodern dance’s Jodi Melnick, and others.
Directed by Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards and Michelle Dorrance, this lively, heartfelt evening showcases choreography and improvisations created in just three weeks by dancers of the Tap Program of The School at Jacob's Pillow.
