Michelle Dorrance, of Dorrance Dance, is a Bessie Award Winner, recipient of the Jacob's Pillow Dance Award, and a 2012 Princess Grace Award-winner.
Featured on the covers of Dance Magazine and Dance Teacher Magazine, she performs, teaches, and choreographs throughout the world. Mentored by Gene Medler, Dorrance performed with North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble and subsequently with STOMP, Manhattan Tap, Savion Glover's company Ti Dii, JazzTap Ensemble, Barbara Duffy & Company, Rumba Rap, Derick K. Grant's Imagine Tap!, and Jason Samuels Smith's Chasing the Bird, to rave reviews. Most recently, Dorrance collaborated with Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards, Derick K. Grant and composer/musician Toshi Reagon to create The Blues Project, a critically acclaimed show that premiered at Jacob's Pillow in 2013. She holds a B.A. from New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Student and teaches on faculty at Broadway Dance Center.
