Arlene Minkhorst has been the Director of Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School since 2004, when she took over the Directorship from Founding Director, David Moroni. Minkhorst is a graduate of Canada’s National Ballet School and Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School. She has also performed with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet before joining the RWB School as a faulty member in 1979. Throughout her career, Minkhorst has taught every level of ballet and pointe technique, prepared students for performances, and taught in the RWB Teacher Training Program. She recognized the importance and need for the RWB School Professional Division Ballet Academic Program to have an integrated academic and dance program. She subsequently developed and implemented a supportive academic/dance structure with Winnipeg school divisions. Minkhorst has been a guest teacher and adjudicator for dance festivals and competitions around the world. Minkhorst is also a regular member of the Youth America Grand Prix Jury in New York, NY, and has been invited to sit on juries for Japan Grand Prix, Prix de Lausanne, and the Tanzolymp in Berlin, Germany.
