Catherine Cabeen earned a M.F.A. from University of Washington and is an assistant Professor of Dance at Marymount Manhattan College. She teaches Martha Graham Technique, Somatic Practices, and a course she designed on Ethics/Aesthetics/Gender and Performing Art History. From 1997-2006, she was a member of the Bill T Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, Martha Graham Dance Company, and MoveOpolis!. Cabeen was Jones’s Assistant Choreographer on the original production of Spring Awakening at the Atlantic Theater Company while based in Seattle WA. From 2006-2013, she performed as a guest artist and presented her own works. In 2011, she was commissioned for an evening-length work titled, Into the Void, by On the Boards. Cabeen’s choreographic work has garnered her Emerging Choreographer at Bates Dance Festival in 2011 and was a finalist in The A.W.A.R.D. Show! in 2009.
