Master Classes provide pre-professional and professional dancers an opportunity to learn from acclaimed dancers, teachers, and choreographers. Led by Pillow Alumni, this master class series is designed to inspire and connect the dancer with our worldwide network of established artists in the field. You will be learning diverse movement approaches from the faculty who will also share their personal Pillow experiences with you. 

Master Classes also serve as an introduction to The School experience and give The School and Program Directors an opportunity to observe applicants, as a pre-screening informative tool. Master Class participation is not required for admittance consideration.

To apply and audition for The School’s programs, submit an application. All School program applicants who apply by January 14 will receive a free master class.

What to Expect

School Directors and staff will greet dancers prior to the classes and observe. Master Classes are excellent opportunities to meet Pillow artists, alumni, and staff, and learn; the atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and inspiring.

Expect to be coached in extending beyond your usual range of artistry and to explore your potential as an expressive, collaborative performer. Warm-ups will be fast-paced and abbreviated, in order to focus on choreography requiring the techniques, styles, and artistic expressivity of the master class genre and Artist Faculty featured.

Who Attends

• Early career and advanced level dancers seeking an inspiring class
  • Minimum age 15 
• Dancers who may not be applying this year, yet wish to learn more about The School at Jacob’s Pillow
• Dancers applying to The School
  • Special Offer: Submit a School application by January 14 to receive a 1 free Master Class

Fees and Policies

• $15| per Master Class
  • Access is non-transferable, cannot be shared and is non-refundable
• 1hr 30min | with time for questions and conversation 
• Liability Waiver Required.
  • Only dancers submitting a legally signed liability waiver will be permitted to take class
  • If age 17 or younger, a parent or guardian must sign the waiver
• Teachers, family members, and friends are not permitted to observe

To Register and Prepare for Class

• Master Class registration portal will be live by December 13. After registration, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions and preparation tips for your Master Class.
• To check-in and be ready for the introductions and instructions, arrive prior to the class start time.

2022 Master Classes

Please note that the below schedule is subject to change. We will adjust to shifts caused by the pandemic and our agreements with our Master Class host sites.  Masks and proof of vaccination will be required for ALL in-person Master Classes. Check back frequently for updates.

Registration for all Master Classes closes at midnight prior to the day of the class. There will be no in-person registration.
